Learn being benefactor

Ubqari Magazine - December 2015

Nawab Imad Ul Mulk had no parallel in generosity. Public at large and his five hundred slaves were very happy at him. He would treat his slaves like his own sons. Nawab had put gorgets made of gold in his slaves’ neck. His slaves would also wear very expensive caps on their head and robes made up of very expensive and fine fabric. They would tie belts made up of gold wires around their waists. His slaves had a typical splendour.

Once caravan of these slaves was passing by a bazar. A poor, homeless man, who was sitting on footpath, upon seeing magnificence of slaves of Imad Ul Mulk started complaining Allah that, “O Allah! Look at these slaves of Nawab Imad Ul Mulk! How wealthy they are! They wear such expensive clothes. And look at me. I have no clothes to wear, no food to eat. Neither I have any hat nor any shoe to put on. Why don’t you learn being benefactor from Imad Ul Mulk.

Days passed by. And decline of Nawab Imad Ul Mulk started unfolding. Offended by something, king put Nawab Imad Ul Mulk in jail and arrested all of his slaves. King in fact wanted to learn about the treasure of Nawab Imad Ul Mulk that he had hid somewhere. King inquired all slaves of Nawab Imad Ul Mulk about the treasure but they didn’t tell anything. King tortured the slaves but they kept silence. They didn’t utter even a single word despite knowing the secret of Nawab Imad Ul Mulk’s wealth. Slaves did no disloyalty to their king.

That homeless man upon seeing this pondered to a voice from heaven. “O man! Why don’t you first learn being a loyal slave to your God? They have not complained nor forgotten their master and have withstood the fierce torture. But you forgot your master over a little discomfort. Learn being a loyal servant first.”
