WHAT FOOLISHNESS IS IGNORANCE OF AAKHIRA (AFTERWORLD)

Ubqari Magazine - July 2015

Islamic Convener Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Kaleem Siddiqui (Phalat)

“Hazrat Maulana is a great preacher of the Islamic World, on whose hand almost five hundred thousand non Muslims have accepted Islam. His world renowned book ‘Naseem-e-Hidayat Kay Jhonkay’ (Breeze of Restoration) is a worth reading document.”

Although King Haroon ur Rasheed revered him from his heart, but for his saintly looking condition, at times he used to droll with him. The King had great respect for Shah Bahlool. He had issued orders to his courtier that whenever Shah Bahlool arrives, he should not be halted and rather be brought to him. One day Haroon ur Rasheed was sitting in his court when Shaa Bahlool arrived. As usual the king thought of jocularity. He was holding a beautiful stick in his hand which he gave to Shah Bahlool and said to him: ‘ If you find someone more foolish than yourself, give this stick to him.’ Shah Bahloor accepted that stick with fondness and left. After three years, Haroon ur Rasheed got sick and was lying on his death bed. Shah Bahlool came to visit him and asked about his health. Haroon ur Rasheed who believed that time had arrived for his death, replied: ‘ What are you asking? I am preparing for the journey.’ Shah Bahlool asked: ‘ What is the destination of the journey?’ Haroon ur Rasheed answered: ‘ Akhiraa.’ Shah Bahlool again asked: ‘ How long is the journey?’ The king replied: ‘You will remain insane. Has anyone returned from the journey of Aakhira?’ Shah Bahlool asked again: ‘How big a contingent, logistics and servants you have sent in advance?’ The king replied: ‘What kind of foolish questions you are asking. Who can send a contingent, logistics and servants for such a journey?’ Shah Bahlool took out that stick from his coverall which Haroon ur Rasheed had given him three years ago. He returned the stick to the king saying: ‘Obeying your orders, I am in search of such a person for three years who is more foolish and stupid than me. Todate I could not find anyone other than you who is more foolish or stupid than me. This is because when you proceed on a few days journey, you send how much of logistics items, servants and contingent in advance. Now the important and long journey for Aakhira is about to commence and you have not done any preparation? Thus you are the only person I have met who is more foolish and stupid than I am. I had kept his stick with care and in obedience to your orders, toay I am giving it to you.’ Saying this he handed over the stick to the king and left.

Listening to his philosophical advise, Haroon ur Rasheed started crying heavily and said: ‘Bahloo! Indeed we always thought you to be an insane person. But who could be more stupid than Haroon ur Rasheed who remained ignorant from preparations of such an important journey.’

In fact, what could be more foolish and stupid on part of human beings than they remain unaware of preparations for such important and factual journey? Whereas we are not sure as that at which moment this journey will commence. Can any king or hakim guarantee that death will give time to a person between his one breath and another? What an insanity it is to be a believer of this deceptive world and ignore the real home of the afterworld (Aakhira).

One of a beautiful sayings of our beloved Holy Prophet  ﷺ is: ‘A wise person is one who keeps his needs under control and prepares for the life after death.’

We do not even remember how many people we bury with our own hands. With our eyes we see many of our loved ones, relatives, friends and companions leaving this world with empty hands. Yet we pay no heed to preparation for the real home (Aakhira) and remain occupied in befuddlement of hope to live in the aromas and colours of this world till doomsday. We remain proud of our prudence and wisdom. What a beautiful saying is related to Imam Hassan Basri that: ‘ If a person swears to invite the most wise people of the world, then he will fulfill his oath by inviting pious people who have renounced this world.’ Therefore, only pious people with no worldly needs are the wisest of all who ignore worldly needs for the worry of afterworld.
