You wish to have children that live, so get involved in the construction of Allah’s place (masjid). Ask Allah for the wages and tell your wife to offer nawafil prayer and recite Isteghfar in abundance.

I often meet a lady, every time she shares some incident which is near to reality. Today she came to see me again, and I was waiting for the story she would share with me. This time she came to tell her own story. Every time she got the blessing of having a child, she would lose it and that happened for years. This is how she got four children who did not live, and thus she became grieved. Whenever she saw children playing in the street, she used to miss her children so much that she went back to her home. Then once it happened that there was a birth in a family known to the lady. Hearing the news, happily she went to their home to see the baby. The child’s grandmother made her sit in the guest room. After a while, she said that she came to see the new born. Upon this, grandmother took her to the room where the baby and his mother were also there. As she went closer to see the baby, the mother who was lying beside, got up quickly and hid her child saying, “I will not let her see the baby because she is the ill-omened lady whose children die and I will not let her ominous shadow fall upon my baby. Take her away from here; else she will kill my baby as well.” Hearing this, she felt like someone had put molten led into her ears. Trembling she reached home, did ablution and started talking to Allah, “O Allah! Am I the angel of death that if I see someone’s children, they will die? Am I ill-omened? These trials are from You, who holds life and death. My lord! I am so broken that I pray for the kids playing in the streets. If I am ill-omened why am I alive? O Allah! The master of life and death, bless with children full of life.” She kept begging and crying for long time in front of Allah. Allah granted her with tranquility and then she went to imam masjid. Imam’s wife was a very pious and practicing lady. She told her sorry tale to the lady and requested her to ask imam sahib for some practice, so that Allah blesses her with children who live. Imam Sahib’s wife consoled her and asked her to come next day. The next day she was again at imam sahib’s place. Imam’s wife asked her to send her husband to imam sahib. Immediately she went to her home and sent her husband to imam sahib. Meanwhile, she performed ablution, sat on prayer mat and started praying and crying in front of Allah. After some time her husband came back. He told her that if they wish to have children that live, they should get involved in the construction of Allah’s place (masjid). Ask Allah for the wages and asked his wife to offer nawafil prayer and recite Isteghfar in abundance. She tells that her husband was employed somewhere. On his way back from work, he would go to the masjid and worked their very diligently. He would carry the bricks and gathered mud; in short he did every labor related to the construction of masjid. He also got the opportunity of offering prayer with congregation. Allah blessed with hope, time passed and once again they were granted with a son. This time she was not anxious but happy on the birth of the child, and she was not afraid that either the child would survive or not. The baby was very healthy; Allah blessed them with four sons one after another. After the completion of that masjid, her husband took part in the construction of another one. From then on wards he dedicated himself for the construction of masjids. It became a routine of his life. He maintained a good health and never felt tired or fell ill despite working so hard. The lady said, “After this practice, Allah blessed me with children who lived. People used to say that I was patient of ithra and that my children would never live but due to this practice Allah blessed me with children who remained alive.” She often used to think that many big palaces, plazas and universities are built in the world. Does building all these give health and children to anyone? The answer is no! It often happened that if any of her children fell ill, she used to send him to masjid to spread the rows, wash the bathrooms or sweep the floors and the child recovered. Rather he would start feeling well while entering the masjid. If her children were severely ill, she used to cook food for the dervishes in the masjid. The dervishes ate the food and her children recovered. This had been the routine throughout her life; she never took her children to the doctor.  As regards the lady who hid her baby from her, Allah took her baby from her while this lady had three children and later she could never have children. This is a true story.
