An Arab villager lived as a guest in the house of a man in city. Man of city had a lot of hens and has one wife, two sons and two daughters in his family. He said to his wife to fry chicken for breakfast. His family sat on the dining mat for breakfast; they also made the guest sit with them. Fried chicken was in middle. He asked the guest to divide it between them. He had said this as a joke but guest said although I don’t know any good method but if you want me to divide it then I would divide it.
Now the guest cut the head of the hen and said that head is for the leader and gave it to the city man. He cut both arms and gave it to his sons and then he gave both shins to the daughters. Then he cut the tail said and said it’s for the old lady. Like this he saved all chicken for himself.
Next day that man said his wife to bring five fried chicken today. When breakfast was ready he said the guest to divide it, then guest said I think you are annoyed on my yesterdays’ division. He said no there is nothing like this; you divide. He said should I divide in even or odd, he said in odd. He started he said you, your wife and 1 chickentotals to 3. He said this and passed 1 chicken to the man. Then he said your two sons and a chicken sums up to 3 and passed 1 chicken to the boys. Two daughters and one chicken they are three; passed 1 chicken to them. Then after this entire division, he said I and these two chickens are three and he grabbed thelast two chickens. When he saw that everybody is looking towards his chicken he said that I think you didn’t like my division. City man said its ok; now divide it in even numbers. He collect all chicken again at one place and said, you, your two sons and one chickens is equal to 4, and he throw a chicken. Your wife and two daughters and one chicken are 4 and then he said these 3 chickens and me are 4, and he took 3 chickens. Then he pointed his face towards sky and said o Allah! It is all your favor and grace You showed me this method of division
