Valerian is a great source of soothe effect. For the same reason soldiers affected by bullets and bomb blasts were given its syrup and were hailed.

Sleep is inevitable. By sweet words of mother, soft touch of her hand, physical fatigue, tummy full of food or by sweet memories sleep is inevitable.

But there are many others who do not fall asleep by all of this. What they should do? Should they consult doctor and get tranquilizers prescribed. Many medicines are developed for this purpose and many are in process. World demand has increased for these drugs. Surely, quota of sleep is decreasing. In fact sources of good sleep are also getting reduced.Junior prince of Dakan state, hero of book Darbar used to distribute specific high intensity tranquilizer tablets among his attendants at the end of his colorful day. He himself used them and used to sleep like child. These drugs do cause sleep but in the long run create side effects. Better way is to use natural herbs instead of chemical tablets. Natural herbs do bring about results and at the same time are without side effects. In such herbs Valerian is attached high importance even in the western world. In Arabic it is called ‘Sumbul-ul-Altayab’. Cats and mouse also like its fragrance. It is commonly said that pied piper destroyed mouse in river with attracting them by the smell of valerian and not by his flute.

Modern research also provides its evidence. Resultantly it is called best natural tranquilizer. Alongwith this,Babona is also attached same importance.

In laboratory test, 127 people were given its essence for three days. Without their information they were also given its artificial tablets. 37% of valerian users reported early sleep whereas 43% reported good sweet sleep. Its best results came from those who were not used to sound sleep. 34% out of such people reported good sleep. 63% of old people who were not used to good sleep reported relaxing sleep. Valerian users reported good results. Under observation 21 out of 27 people reported good sleep as compared to those who used artificial tablets of valerian, whereas 44% claimed complete and sound sleep. They did not report any side effects. It is pertinent to mention that those people, who sleep unconscious like children, do not need to use valerian. Valerian should be used by such people only who are sleep-deprived. Such people can use it for good. Prior to sleep, 2-3 cups of its tea should be drunk. It is appropriate to ground its dries root and add to boiling water and then simmer. If like other medicines, you feel any effects then quit its usage. It should also be taken into notice that to some people, its smell proofs to be foul. In such condition, they should not use it.
