A 10 MINUTE EXERCISE ROUTINE FOR BUSY PEOPLE

Ubqari Magazine - October 2013

By Hakeem Muhammad Saeed Shaheed

‘Exercise has its benefits’. This is something I have heard very often from my mother who stressed this principle quite strongly in our household. Growing up, I have realized the importance of exercising that even today after 50 years I still discover its numerous benefits.

Exercise, I believe is such a necessary activity that all those who wish to lead a successful life in fulfilling both religious and worldly duties ought to include this in their lifestyles. One should question himself that can anything be done without moving about?

Human body is such a living machine that the process of repair and growth continuously take place within it. Briefly said our body consists of numerous cells which group together to carry out different needs to maintain a healthy structure, these cells must die out and then regenerate something that only exercise can really achieve. When these cells regenerate after wear and tear, a sense of freshness originates.

You live the real life only when you are fit. All the daily routine work whether at home or in the office is done with maximum efficiency only when you are physically and mentally fit. So exercise is one very important way to achieve this.

Start your morning each day with some sort of exercising techniques to get your blood to circulate to all body parts. The harshness of today’s world in terms of professional life has wrecked havoc on our physical fitness such that we have become ignorant of what our body needs. This is why it is vital for us to become active in this sphere of our life too so that our body fulfills the demands that we impose on it. Practically speaking we must also understand that our health will benefit our state too because if every citizen stays fit then it adds up to give us a healthier nation which prospers. Hence staying fit is both a right and an obligation on us.

This discussion brings me to the purpose of my article which is to provide some exercise for people on   a tight schedule.

Exercise 1

Take two chairs and while standing behind them, place both your hands on them. Fold one hand behind your back and slowly bend downwards for as long as you don’t tire and return to original position.

Exercise 2

Stand straight and position your hands in front of your body horizontally while moving your hands into this position, take in a deep breath. After that lower your hands and exhale simultaneous such that you don’t feel any air left in your lungs. Keep doing this for some while. This exercise is very important after the first one.

Exercise 3

Imagine that you are using a rope to climb something where your hands are one above the other and you are exerting force to fight imaginary gravity. While supposing this situation, move your hands from your waist to above your head. Repeatedly do this imaginary rope climbing until your arms tire out.

Exercise 4

Link together fingers of both your hands and position them above your head. Move your hands downwards (still linked together) until you reach your waist. This is a good exercise for your chest. Keep doing it till you tire.

Exercise 5

While standing straight, maintain a distance of about 24 inches between your feet. Place your hands on your hips and then move downwards with one hand outstretched so that it touches the other fort. Do this without bending knees; it is a good exercise to tighten stomach muscles.
