Holy Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ disposition towards non-Muslims
Hazrat Imran Bin Hazeen رضی اللہ عنہا narrates that during a journey they stopped for spending night. They were so tired from the journey that none of them woke up for Fajar prayer which they offered later. As they had consumed the water, Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ despatched him with a team in search of water. On their way, they came across a non-Muslim woman carrying water on her camel. They asked her if water can be had from anywhere near. To which she told that she had been bringing water after traveling for a day and night is bringing the water. She said that she is a widow and she has very young orphan children. We brought her to prophet ﷺ on His order we made the camel sit. Prophet ﷺ took the pitcher and drank water a bit and poured it out. Then your miracle was witnessed by us all 40 people. We all drunk water from it and all the small or big utensils that we had, we filled it. One person was in need of taking a bath we gave it to him. Still it felt as all the utensils were about to explode due to water. Then Prophet ﷺ said that look we did not lessen your water. Then by your order we gave that woman left over chapatti pieces and dates. You said that feed these to your children.
She went to her tribe and told the entire incident to the whole tribe accepted Islam. It is narrated regarding Hazrat Umer رضی اللہ عنہ that during a travel to Syria and there in the house of a Christian, he did ablution from warm water. Imam Shafi narrated this incident in such way that Hazrat Umer رضی اللہ عنہ did ablution by taking from pitcher of Christian woman.
