AN INTOXICATED DRUNK MAN ENTERED THE MOSQUE

Ubqari Magazine - May 2019

Hazrat Moulana Mohd. Kaleem Siddiqui (phalat): Hazrat Moulana is a great ‘Daee’ at whose hands approx. 500,0000 (five hundred thousand) people embraced Islam. His book ‘Naseeme- Hidayat ke Jhonke’ is worth a read.

The Imam Sahib was teaching some children Quran, some young men came for consult with him, and then another man came. There was 1/2 hour to Dhuhr prayers. He asked him to wait ,he sat by the masjid door. Suddenly he saw a drunk man approach the mosque and enter with his shoes on. He tried stopping him, but the man insisted on entering saying I want to come in and pray behind the Imam. The Imam thought that although he was drunk but at least he wants to kneel and pray before Allah! Who knows his for this act Allah may bring him out of this state of wrongdoing and haram. The Mullah excused himself, came to the door, he took off the man’s shoes and helped him do abulation(wudhu). After that he took him to the side and

Started praying. After Surah Fatiha, he recited: ‘Surah Zaur, ayat 53:-

O my believer, whatever injustice you have inflicted, do not be disheartened of Allah’s mercy, surely he shalll forgive all your sins. Surely he is the most forgiving and merciful.’

That man was an Arab and seemed very affected and entranced by the verse. Then they finished the first rakkat and went into the second rakkat, recited Surah Fatiha, then did rukoo and then went into sajda and the imam finished with Salam. He turned and saw the drunk man was still in sajda, slightly shook his shoulder, but the man fell sideways and he was softly reciting,

“Ya Ayuhal insaanu, ma gharakha bi rabike al kareem

Alathi khalaqa-ka fa zawaka, fa adilaq —fe ayi surattin masha-a rakabak.”

یایھا الانسان ما غرک بربک الکریم – الذی خلقک فسوک فعدلک – فی ای صورۃ ما شاء رکبک-

and with that he passed away. It was the Imam sahib’s kind heartedness and his conviction to preach and inviting people to the faith that helped fulfill a drunk mans desire to bow down in prayer to Allah. He did not turn him away in disgust just because he was drunk, instead he dealt with him with affection! Just as a doctor is to treat a person although he may be extremely sick. If every Muslim of the prophets Ummah who holds an authoritative religious position would have such kindness and compassion to help bring people to Allah thru zikr and prayer, help them bow in submission to Allah. An event of such responsible and kind attitudes,

millions of people would chant: “La tak-natu min rehmat til lahi” and “Ma gharakha bi rabbikal kareem”,

لا تقنطوا من رحمتہ اللہ  and  ما غرک بربک الکریمreadily breath their last bowing breaths in submission to Allah.

Wish people of authority would understand their duties that come with their positions!
