MY OBSERVATIONS AND CONTEMPLATIONS

Ubqari Magazine - November 2015

WHISPERS OF THE HEART (BY EDITOR’S PEN)

Funeral of a Billionaire

We learn throughout our life and how stunning is it that when we learn a little or become able to share our learning with others, we get chased by the message of death. On 23 December 2001, I chose Lahore as my permanent place of work with the Divine guidance and prediction of my Shaykh Abdullah Hajveri (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) proved true. Before this move and even afterwards, I received an overwhelming support from this family whose founder passed away on Monday, the 28 September 2015. I was just back from my Hajj journey that I rushed to his house. I found the body of a billionaire wrapped in white cloak (shroud) lying quiet but giving me a silent message. All around me would think that I was sitting silent but I was not. Rather I had a storm of thoughts, emotions and feelings and I was getting a new experience with each passing second. My this benevolent person wrapped in white sheets was leaving me a message that was revealed by my intuition, intellect and observation was that I had heard from my elders that their forefathers would pray for them to be blessed by seven sons. That fortunate person was also blessed with seven sons but they are not only nicely brought up but also possess very noble personalities and they demonstrated this by caring their father in his long period of illness like we care for the delicate rose petals. If they were like ordinary people, they would leave their father to the old home and then the old man would be like a living dead counting his breathes and living on the mercy of others like we hear every day from all corners of our society. Even if they chose him to live with them at home, then he would die a miserable death.

When I looked at his face, there were no signs of death and not even a single impression of bitterness of death was evident from his face. Rather it was crystal clear from his complexion and face expression that he died peacefully like a staunch believer and sincere servant of Islam. Each of his sons proved their worth by serving him tirelessly all day and night. They had fixed their turns to wake at night as well as during the day so that at no time their father was left helpless or without any attendant. They sacrificed their earnings of youth and sleep for their father and what a wonderful father he was! He did so many good but one of his virtuous deeds was his carefulness for earning Halal and cautionary dealings in business. He was so truthful in his dealings that his loved ones as well as his competitors could not stop themselves from praising him for this virtue. He had a partner in business who died after some time. He stretched his support to the family in such a way that they could not feel that their real father had died. Then he supported his partner’s whole family to perform Hajj like his own family. He gave them not only their due share but even more than that. These were the words of family of his business partner.  He had an influential personality, clear in his dealings and was a clean person. I think this was the effect of his halal earning that all of his seven sons and two daughters had a noble and wonderful brought up.

When I would look at his sons in the funeral and his gentle and modest sons in law, I felt that there are two things, encroaching rights of others or fulfilling rights of others and even giving more than the due. The late guy always chose the latter and in return he was blessed by the Almighty so vehemently that whenever he told me about his past and present, I was amazed to know his accomplishments. This effect of halal earning was passed on to his grandchildren too. It was through the blessing of his halal earnings that one of his sons was chosen to devote his life to the propagation of Islam and then became a guiding star for the whole family to the noble path. Each of his virtue is so huge that it can’t be expressed in words. When the Tasbih Khana was founded in Lahore in 2002(it was Tasbih Khana as well as my residence and clinic), a handful of people were there for the inauguration prayer. He brought a box of sweets at that occasion. I would always tell him that millions of distressed people all around the world who are getting rid of their worries and problems through blessings of Ubqari are just a manifestation of that box of sweets. It was not the box of sweet only but was a way to spreading ease for the whole creations till the day of judgement by the Almighty’s Will when not only me and my sincere helpers will be rewarded but also be my benefactors would get rewarded for the continuous virtue that they have done through Ubqari. I was really stunned upon hearing from my wife that there was absolute calmness among the family without any mourning which is also condemned by our faith although every eye was wet and every heart full of tears. Every act was within the limits of Shariah. To cry is not an act of cowardice as our beloved messenger (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) also wept over the sad demise of his mother, beloved wife, obedient daughters and favourite sons and the same was exhibited by this noble family of my dear friend. The sons were having tearful eyes and sighs of grief but nothing like tens of people are gathered to calm them down and the women falling over the dead and raising hue and cry. There was a sobbing environment but everything was within the limits of Islamic teachings.Dear readers! This is a lesson for all of us and this article is just to arouse the feelings about adopting some noble ways even in the state of sheer grief and sorrow. I do not have the habit to write something in praise of anyone but this was so thought provoking and persuasive that I could not resist myself to bring it forward for all of you. The most amazing thing was that the eldest son led the funeral prayer. I was just thinking and wished I would have such children and I am hopeful to have the same that my own funeral be led by my son too. Dear readers! Where in all this above, I do not want to forget the benevolence of my benefactor but also want to share some lessons that i have learnt. Amongst them the first is Halal sustenance and honest dealing, second lesson is about the best upbringing of all the seven sons as well as two daughters and grooming into them the best manners and morals and the third is that death accompanies everyone but how to say farewell to the loved ones upon their demise. Bid them farewell by sighs, tears and grief or raising hue and cry and an ill-mannered departure. And fourthly, the children should be able to lead the funeral prayer of the parents. Even when I think now I can still hear his words echoing in my ears about the truthfulness of his affairs and then I pray to Allah after taking a sigh that O Allah! Please place Late Tajammul Ilahi Shamsi Sahib in your merciful place and let his soul rest in peace in the company of noble people. Amen. I owe to my benefactor for his favours and it seems to be too huge that I might not be able to return them during whole of my life. That is the reason that I call him billionaire as he who possesses such a noble character himself as well as with such a graceful characteristics replicated to his generations, they are a real billionaire indeed and if someone despite being a billionaire does not have these characteristics, than they are valueless and worthle
