Hazrat Saad Bin Abi Waqas (RA) narrates that he heard from Prophet Muhammad PBUH on the occasion when he left Hazrat Ali (RA) behind, Hazrat Ali (RA) asked: O Prophet Muhammad PBUH you left me behind in women and children? Prophet Muhammad PBUH responded that are you not satisfied on this that you are to me like Haroon (AS) were to Prophet Mosa (AS) though there will be no Prophet after me. And I heard from Prophet Muhammad PBUH on the day of ghazwa e khyber that I will give the flag to the one who loves Allah SWT and his messenger Muhammad PBUH and Allah SWT and his messenger PBUH loves him. So we all were in wait of such blissfulness when Prophet Muhammad asked for Hazrat Ali (RA) to come forward. Hazrat Ali (RA) came, he was suffering from Conjunctivitis (ashob-e-chashm). Prophet Muhammad PBUH dripped saliva in his eyes and blessed him with the flag. Allah SWT made him the conqueror of Ghazwa-e-Khyber. And when the verse dismounted: “o Prophet PBUH say, we call our sons, you call your sons” Prophet Muhammad PBUH called upon Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Fatima, Hazrat Hassan, Hazrat Hussain Rizwan Ullah Alaihim Ajmaein and said : “o Allah! This is my family.” (Muslim, tirmizi)
Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) says that Prophet Muhammad PBUH came to us. Hazrat Hassan (RA) and Hazrat Hussain (RA) were riding on his respective shoulders. He was kissing them both. And reached us and stopped. A person asked O prophet PBUH, do you love them? Prophet PBUH replied, whoever loves them, loves me. And whoever has grudge with them, has grudge with me. (Ahmad Hakim.
