Few years back when I completed my studies, I got a job in school close to my house. School was very good. I had no experience of teaching children, but, yes, had immense interest. Every class had two sections, senior teacher use to teach one section and the junior teacher another. I was given a class too. Senior teacher use to guide the junior teacher. Senior teacher associated with me was double my age and naturally was experienced too. I was new and knew nothing. I am not backbiting but Allah knows she was never kind to me, never told me what to do and what not to.
Most dumb kids were sent to my class, parents also liked to send their kids in her class. Anyway, I used to teach kids with best of my ability because I had interest to do so. Every year result of my class used to be better than her class.
Every year quiz competition was held in school. I did not know anything. Therefore, my class use to lose to the senior teacher’s class. The senior teacher was Masters in Islamiyat whereas I was a student of Business Administration. Every year Islamiyat use to be the topic for competition. I use to think, O Allah what should I do, what should I do.
Anyway, it was 3rd year of my job and of quiz competition too. When the date of competition was announced, senior teacher came to me and said that how would your class win? Islamiyat is my subject and even this year my class will win, she said so and went away. I was hurt because of her proudness and her words ring in my ears even today. I had tears in my eyes, then deep in my heart I prayed to Allah, O’ Allah you know what’s inside everybody’s heart, who is more close to you, this time break her proudness, grant success to my kids. Anyway, I selected few intelligent students of my class and gave them a questionnaire for preparation. Topic was Migration to Madina.
I told an interesting story to the kids of my class who were participating in the competition and to those who were not participating in the competition. I know the kids tend to forget the lessons but do not forget a story. Before telling the story, I prayed to ALLAH that O’ ALLAH! My knowledge is limited, I am going to do a good deed, I am going to tell an Islamic history event, if I commit a mistake please forgive me, then I told the kids, how did the non believers of Makkah persecute our Prophet SAW and how our Prophet SAW and his diehard companions migrated from Makkah to Madina? How did the battle of Badar took place? And how did ALLAH send angels to help them.
Till the time competition took place . I use to recite نَصْرٌ مِّنَ اللہِ وَ فَتْحٌ قَرِیْبٌ many times after every prayer. This is a very powerful ayah. Along with this I used to pray to ALLAH to give success to my kids.
Principal called the kids of both the classes on the day of competition. Class teachers and other kids were not allowed there. Kids went into the principal’s room and I was in the class with my other classmates in upper portion, but I had trust in my ALLAH, I had trust in my prayers, I had faith .
After some time kids came back, they were climbing the stairs. I could hear the sound of their footsteps, as they were getting close, I could feel in my heart that my kids have been victorious and the moment, they entered and I saw happiness on their faces I felt extremely happy as I have been successful. Kids were shouting out of happiness that teacher we have won, we have won, the kids said that the kids of senior teacher’s class did not know the answer of even one question and the questions principal asked us were not in the questionnaire rather they were from the story ( event ) which you told us in the class , at this time I felt such happiness that cannot be explained. How happy was I that I did a little effort and ALLAH granted me success, “before starting any job if this ayah is recited ALLAH grants success.”
I told the whole story of migration in an interesting way to kids of my class participating and not participating in the competition. I know kids forget their lessons but not stories. Before telling, I prayed to Allah, O’ Allah, I don’t have much knowledge, I am going to enlighten a beautiful Islamic story to kids of my class, forgive me if any mistake is made by me. Then I told them the story that how non-believers of Makah tortured our Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and how our Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and his companions migrated from Makah to Madina. How war of Badar was happened and how Allah helped the Muslim with angels. Till holding the competition, I use to recite a holy verse after every prayer.
